So, Tell me about Organizational Excellence

I lead workshops helping local government leaders on their journey to excellence.  One of the best ways to visualize what that looks like is to name organizations that we feel have achieved and live it (over time).

Chick-Fil-A comes up as an example in every workshop.

What does Organizational Excellence look like?

  • Has a clear vision (outcome) and strategic plan (path) to get there;  over the next 3 – 5 years
  • Has a strong, positive culture built on meaningful core values embedded in the organization
  • Has caring, competent leadership that sets the direction and equips staff for success
  • The workforce has high “commitment” bringing enthusiasm and their “full self” to work every day
  • Has a workforce (all) that is fully competent from clear expectations, feedback, and training …
  •    and where the obstacles to high performance are removed.  That is my specialty!!
  • There is a “suite of meaningful measures” that cover both tactical and strategic issues
  • The organization anticipates and leads/manages change effectively and efficiently (winning the
  •    hearts and minds of the workforce to “buy-in”)
  • The organization delights its customers by maximizing both the outcome and experience

There are tons of reasons why organizations should commit and work towards excellence.

Your reputation is really your greatest asset!

What are some other examples that come to your mind and why?

How are you doing on these puzzle pieces and their overall integration?

This is what we do. Happy to talk about it.
